Adelaide United 3 (Pantelis 15', Cristiano 48', 60')
Wellington Phoenix 0

Cristiano absolutely destroyed Wellington Phoenix who didn't seem to show much fight or character without their usual hitman Shane Smeltz, like I said in another thread Wellington are stuck in 8th position where they will always be. Leo Bertos got through on goal but buckled and it was an easy save for Galekovic. Hearfield could have equalised, took a deflection though and was easy pickings for Galekovic, that pretty much summed up their night. It was a terrible performance and I hope Wellington don't churn out this cr*p for the rest of the season, they have potential at times, but they're really not showing it.

Strikeanywhere did you watch this woeful performance, did anyone else? What are your thoughts on this very mucn one-sided contest?

Wellington were absolutely dire, worse than the Jets on Friday. Didn't seem interested at all.

I know they probably wanna put the New Zealand Knights behind them, and make their own mark on the league but maybe going back to that team and trialling some of the moderately successful players from that team could help?

They seem to have no decent players, their football tonight was reminiscint of some of the weaker performances of the New Zealand Knights, absolutely dreadful.

No, that's the problem, Boris. They have some good footballers but they're not playing as a team.

Jon McKain and Andrew Durante is a solid CB pairing along with Lochhead who recently trialled at Middlesbrough. Bertos is good in the midfield (A-league level anyway) and Smeltz as we know is quality..

They need a better midfield and to clear the rubbish like Karl Dodd.

Karl Dodd is useless Laughing

McKain and Durante are great, and Smeltz too but unless they bring in more A-League adapted, decent players, even to fill the squad and add competition for places, I reckon they could go far.
