It seems like Thaksin Shinawatra has sold Man City to Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment.

Quote:

Al Fahim, who led negotiations, confirmed on Monday the deal had been struck. He told Arabian Business: “We will release details later, but this is a great event for both the club and Abu Dhabi.

"Our goal is very simple – to make Manchester City the biggest club in the Premier League, and to begin with, to finish in the top four this season.”

Thaksin will stay on as honorary president of the club without any administrative responsibilities...

Is this good for Man City? What do you guys think?

I've changed the title to include 'rumour.'

Until it's official on the City website it's still a rumour.

They have Corluka deal up so if somethings been struck they'll update it asap.

They have already said they want a top four finish this season. Do they even know anything about English football?

I think its good that they got rid of Thaksin Shinawatra but its too early to say whether it is a good deal for man city.

Thats ok. I just saw it and thought it must be a done deal, so I posted it straightaway. If its not reported in other news outlets, then it must still be a rumour. Lets see what comes out of this...

They're about to enter the top 4. They're bidding for everyone, including berbatov. Move over Arsenal and Liverpool! Woo hoo!

I wonder how long it will be before we see Man City fans popping up all over the place. Also I wonder how those Chelsea fans feel now that they are behind Man City in terms of financial muscle. It will be interesting. Man City could outbid Chelsea for any players they want. Chelsea do not have the pull that the likes of United, Liverpool and Arsenal have in terms of history, and club stature, so money is a huge factor when players join them. If the money is better elsewhere ie. Man City, they would probably decide against moving down South.

There are plenty players to round though and Man City can't buy everyone.

It just means we have another Chelsea. And they haven't won everything yet. It sucks for Spurs but on the whole just means the EPL standard will get even better.

I think the biggest losers of this will be Liverpool. They are the fourth best team at the moment and they could slip out of the CL places IF this whole thing pays off for City.

Personally i'm very happy for City and the their supporters. I have many friends who are City fans and i'm glad they now have the money to compete with the bigger clubs.

Am I the only one who thinks Mark Hughes will be sacked before the end of the season?
I mean it's a big ask to finish in the top 4, you don't do it on demand...
