Amidst all the hectic transfer gossip yesterday, it went relatively unnoticed that Kevin Bond became the first managerial casualty of the new season as he was sacked by Bournemouth. I can only assume he paid the price for only getting two points so far this season, and with Rotherham, who were also deducted seventeen points, cutting a huge chunk out of that minus seventeen already there is no room for the Cherries to fall behind. I think Bond can feel slightly harshly done by though, he so nearly pulled off the great escape last season and has been working with virtually both hand ties behind his back in a financial sense for a long time.
And as I write this post it has been confirmed the Cherries have drafted in Cambridge manager (and former Reading player) Jimmy Quinn as the clubs new manager, Quinn spent some time at Dean Court as a player and guided Cambridge to the Blue Square playoff final last season and was the favourite to take the job from the moment it was announced Bond had gone.
