Do England players really care about International Football? |
|
England face Germany on Wednesday evening for an International friendly in Berlin, however travelling fans will be left disappointed having paid approximately £500 for the trip; they will only get to see mainly a second string England team. England will be without many key players including Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole and Emile Heskey leaving just four of Capello's likely first-choice line-up available for selection.
So why is it always the same old story when England are due to play an International friendly? Just take a look at some of the South American sides, and their attitudes towards any International fixture. They take huge amounts of pride to pull on the shirt that represents their country. What are your thoughts? Are England players letting down those travelling fans by pulling out? Would these players really be missing had this been an important international fixture? Are International friendy games important and what can Capello do to prevent withdrawals of this kind in future? |

I think those players do take it serious now. I think a lot of players believe there is a fair playing filed in the selection process under Capello and everyone gets judged fairly and is selected on how they play in the league. UNder the likes of McClaren there seemed to be a process where players were selected on that stature in the English hearts, which was why they were garbage under that idiot. Capellos seems to be very strict in his attitude towards players and he cuts no slack to players like Gerrard,Terry and Lampard who i think were paid too much respect by previous Managers. The fact that Capello called gerrard down to London to take a look at him ,to make sure he wasn't faking injury is massive in my eyes, and sets the record straight.I think he won't take any of that previous bull and that's what's needed and i reckon the performance by every player V Germany proved that. He's going to be the best manager in England s History i'm quite sure of that. |

If you were in charge of the team Specnur, would you allow those "injured" players to immediately regain their place in the next competetive game?

I don't think so. Players of today mostly are mainly interested in money and trophies, they more like winning the CL and getting a fat extra quid for it than playing a friendly vs e.g. Andorra. But that's ok. If I had to chose between supporting rather my club or my country I would go for my club for a mile. BTW Austria lost to Sweden by 0:2 in a dull game yesterday, no passion, no hearth, a fact which makes it even easier for me to turn my back on these wannabe stars.
