Tottenham v Blackburn |
|
A decent game for us at the moment, we've had a brilliant start under Redknapp and after our first defeat at Fulham this is the sort of game you wish to come along. It isn't going to be easy but it's defiantely a winnable game and I think an imporant one to keep the momentum going as we have a few tough games coming up after this. Luka Modric has been ruled out for a couple of weeks but has admitted he is happy here under Redknapp.
Line up:- -----------------Gomes--------------- --Corluka Woodgate King(C) Bale-- Bentley Huddlestone Jenas Lennon ----------Pavlyuchenko Bent--------- Has to be last chance for Gomes I feel, he needs to come out of this game without any glaring errors and a few decent saves, needs to stay on his line for corners and not come out and try and deal with them all the time. I actually have a feeling he won't make any major errors in this game. We really haven't seen much of Bent along with Pavlyuchenko, this could be a decent game to bring them in, both are willing runners and could cause Blackburn a few problems. Especially Darren's Pace and usually clinical finishing. An important game for Aaron Lennon aswell, with Dos Santos out and O'Hara looking pretty poor at the moment this could be his chance to show Harry he deserves his place in the team. Prediction:- Tottenham 2-1 Blackburn Thoughts on potential score lines? How will we do without the likes of Modric? |

This is definatly the sort of game that we must win. Home games against teams like Blackburn are ones that we can't afford to be dropping points in.
Will be good to give Robbo a clap as he plays in front of the Park Lane again (he looks world class when you look at what we replaced him with). I don't have a clue what team Harry will send out on Sunday. Hopefully Darren bent gets the nod and stays injury free tonight, and puts in a good performance and even bags a goal to help boost his confidence even more. Fraizer Campbell is in fine form as well, so it will be hard for harry not to pick him. I hope Bale is on the bench. The reason being, he is a jinx. With him still never having won a premier league game, i think he should be on the bench and only come on in injury time if we have a 3 goal lead. It isn't a good record to have and it needs to be broken ASAP. I can see this being a high scoring encounter given the goalkeepers who will be on show, so... Spurs 4, Blackburn 2 |

Agree lads, not a must-win but a victory would be very important. We will go back to 4-4-2 with Modric out which might help us in a game like this.
My team: _________Sanchez_________ Corluka_King_Woodgate_BAE Bentley_Hudd__Zokora__Lennon _____Bent_____Campbell____
I hope you clap and cheer for Gomes more than you do Blobbo! Ive heards stories about the Park Lane end over there, were you one of the ones singing about Defoe a couple of weeks back when one of our own strikers had already scored two in the game? |

you really should beat Blackburn. they have been pathetic lately and under Ince really dont seem to know what their strengths are. whether thats because Ince is still learning his players or whether he is clueless is for another day but they are certainly ripe for the taking.

I clap Gomes but don't cheer when he jumps at the crossbar before kick off (that's just gay). I will clap Robbo because he was a good servant to the club and was a fans favourite, and in my opinion shouldn't have been sold. If that was the Liverpool game in the cup, then I wasn't there for that one. For the Bolton game it was sung in the first few minutes of the game, and yes, I did join in with that and I even said to my mates before the game that it would be sung. He is a very good player who was very unfairly treated, and again, shouldn't have been sold. |

Blackburn 13 points, Tottenham 12 points.
Wow. Its going to be a scrap... 1-2 Gamst-peterson with a brace. =0 |

I know youre the one paying for the ticket but why wouldnt you sing for our players instead? Defoe is gone, move on with life and support our players on the pitch not some other teams. (IMO ofcourse) |

Big game for Gomes.
If he could get any kind of appreciation through this match he will remain no. 1 goalkeeper at WHL. Bent has to play along side Young Fraizier, Spurs defence should be solid in order to make Gomes comfortable under the sticks. Its gonna be cracker of a game. |

It's just purely because with Portsmouth's manager taking over, the fans were just making it clear who the main transfer target should be. He already knows that we didn't want to see him go, and that we would love to see him bring him back. |

Well I'd love Jermaine Defoe back but how could we line up with him in the team. He can't play as the only striker so Bent or Pav would have to be alongside him which would mean Modric either playing on the left or in the middle but then I think we'd lack the defensive qualities we need to keep teams out.

I reckon this could be a highscoring game with two donkeys in goal. Good grief.
There was a lot of talk about Gomes' howler last week, but Robbo's c*ck up against Sunderland went unnoticed. It was a truly shocking piece of goalkeeping, and what made it worse was he was blaming the ref (I haven't a clue what for!). Anyway, I think we'll go 4-4-2 being at home against a side struggling at the moment. However, unlike BJ, I think Harry could go for Pavlyuchenko and Campbell, seeing as the Russian is Cup-tied for the midweek UEFA Cup game. Bent also played a half for England so maybe the other two would be slightly fresher for this game. Obviously I'd be disappointed if we didn't win, but despite their current form, Blackburn deserve respect. They are a decent side and have several good players. After losing at home, Ince will be extra keen to fire them up for this, especially now they've slipped into the relegation zone. This game will not be a gimme. However, I'll stick my neck out and go for a 3-1 win for my Spurs. |

Half time:- Tottenham 1-0 Blacburn
Roman Pavlyuchenko with the goal, sloppy play by Olsson, Lennon robben him of possesion and drove into the box drew the challenge but played the ball to Roman before he was tackled and Pav blasted it past Robinson. Olsson was sent off after a few fouls on Lennon, none were really bad fouls just late and the final one Lennon was bursting past him after a lay off from Corluka or Jenas I forget. Gomes almost gifted them a goal after trying to catch a corner but dropped it and Corlulka had to put it out for another corner. Come on Gomes focus! Lennon man of the match so far by a mile. Woodgate would be second he has been excellent aswell but Lennon has been really lively, and has chucked a few decent crosses in aswell. Team was:- ---------------Gomes Corluka King Woodgate Ekotto Lennon Jenas Huddlestoen Bentley ---------Bent Pavlyuchenko I'd say everyone has done pretty well apart from Gomes and Jenas. |

It's over cantona_ we won the game by a goal to nil. A well deserved 3 points here, Lennon was the main threat throughout the game but credit where it's due for Roman finished well and didn't stop running the whole time he was on the pitch. I think Huddlestone only played one poor pass the whole game, although he didn't get any assists or anything his passing was spot on our very own Quaterback.
Up to 14th for the time being, although we could go down a few places if Wigan win and if the game between West Ham and Sunderland ends with either team coming out on top, even if it ends in a draw Sunderland would move above us. So we are definately moving down at least one place by the end of this game week, but it's all good the important thing is we got a win against Blackburn today. I was a little suprised Harry decided to take of Roman instead of Bent, Roman can't play mid week so I'd of thought he'd give Bent a little rest instead of Pavlyuchenko. Player Ratings Gomes - 5 - Made one big mistake luckily it didn't allow Blackburn in for a goal, he didn't really enspire confidence throughout the team. Corluka - 6.5 - Had a good game didn't do anything decisive but didn't do anything wrong, solid peformance. King - 6.5 - Same as Corluka really. Woodgate - 7.5 - Made a few good blocks and good headers, good game Woody. Ekotto - 6 - Didn't do much wrong was caught out of position once or twice which luckily didn't cost us. Lennon - 8 - Was a very good peformance, but didn't do quite as much in the second half but no-one really did either. Hudd - 7 - Good passing no real killer passes, showed more energy than we are used with him aswell. Jenas - 5 - Passing off, tackling off, shooting off, overall a poor peformance Bentley - 5.5 - His passing was off but didn't get enough of the ball in the right areas to be a real threat. Great cross from set piece resulted in Pav hitting the post. Bent - 6 - Ran some decent runs just didn't get the service in this game. Pav - 7.5 - Good running, good finish didn't get quite as many chances as he'd of hoped but a good peformance. Campbell came on for Pav but had no time to show what he was made of. Overall I am happy, good job lads. |
