Aston Villa are poised to sign
Portsmouth's Patrik Berger on a two-year contract after the midfielder agreed personal terms with the club.
The 31-year-old is out of contract after two seasons with
Portsmouth.
"There has been a lot of interest in Patrik but he is going to Aston Villa - it is a done deal," said Berger's agent Barry Silkman.
Berger is expected to complete the move when his
Portsmouth contract officially expires at the end of May.
The former Czech Republic international made 60 appearances for
Portsmouth, scoring eight goals.
Aston Villa are hoping to bring in several new players over the summer, with the likes of Southampton's Kevin Phillips and
Liverpool's Milan Baros both linked with the club.
