QPR not willing to break the bank for Langley
By Sean Wozencroft Date: 12/5/2005 QPR manager Ian Holloway has confirmed that he is interested in bringing Richard Langley back to Loftus Road, but the midfielder would have to be willing to take a big pay cut. Langley joined City from Rangers in August 2003 for £250,000. With the financial crisis surrounding the club, Lennie Lawrence has been forced to admit that he will listen to offers for his players and there have been strong rumours after the Jamaican returning to London. However, unless Langley is willing to take a big pay cut, the deal looks unlikely. "I think Richard is a terrific player and a nice lad, but I can't afford his wages," said Holloway. "Cardiff are paying him double what we were paying him - that's a fact. So I don't think taking Richard back is realistic. "I would like to sign Thierry Henry, Ryan Giggs and Ronaldinho - but I can't afford them! "If Richard agrees to take a cut in wages, then it might be a different story, but I don't know too many players who will take a pay cut. Langley hasn't made the impact we expected since joining us nearly two years ago. He was a key player for Rangers and is said to have loved the club. However, QPR have a strict budget and will not break the bank for one player |
