The pre-season is looking very good so far for MVFC after having now gone through nine games undefeated. The club won it's first piece of silverware after defeating Chinese Superleague side Changchun Yatai FC in the final if the QNI North Queensland Trophy, 6-1.
Michael Ferrante scored twice and Danny Allsopp bagged a hattrick whilst Grant Brebner fired one in from a free kick. This is how the side looks this season: -----------------------------------------Theo/Eugene-------------------------------------------- Muscat---------------Piorkowski---------------------Leijer-------------------Claeys/New Left-back -------------------------------------------Brebner-------------------------------------------------- --------Sarkies----------------------------------------------------------------------Caceres-------- -------------------------------------------Fred-------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------Archie Thompson-----Claudinho--------------------------------------- SUBS: Geoffrey Claeys (could be benched when new LB arrives) Michael Ferrante Vince Lia Danny Allsopp (Any more potential new signins ie: Roddy Vargas) |

Well the Victory look to have filled their roster with Brazilian left back, Alessandro, as well as expected VPL player Roddy Vargas. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the Victory can do this season.
*********************** Third Brazilian joins Victory July 11, 2006 MELBOURNE Victory has added a third Brazilian to its A-League roster, signing left-sided defender Alessandro today. Alessandro, 23, is an attacking left-back who fills a void Victory coach Ernie Merrick has been looking to plug throughout the off season. He will link up with fellow Brazilians Fred and Claudinho in the Victory squad. The strikers signed for the Melbourne club in May. The Victory said Alessandro had been playing in Brazil's first division for Internacional RS, and played for several other Brazilian clubs, including ADAP and Angra dos Reis. Melbourne has completed its 20-man squad after also adding former NSL player Roddy Vargas today. Vargas, who played several seasons with the Melbourne Knights, joins the Victory after playing in the Victorian Premier League for Green Gully. Both players are expected to join their new teammates in the Victory's training session on Thursday ahead of its opening A-League pre-season match against Adelaide United in Launceston on Sunday. |

What a signing he looks to be! An attacking left fullback, just what we want to see. Could be very similar to Heffernan last year for the Mariners. Victory are looking very formidable.
