Great post!  It sums up my feelings for the match and the performance of the Portuguese team in this WC.
I wish I had seen Nuno Gomes playing last night. He normally does well in this kind of situations and is frequently clever enough to find a tiny little space to kick the ball and score. Anyway, I'm sure Scolari did what he thought was the best for the team and.. he's the expert and the boss! 
But France, as I said in a previous post, did well, scored and managed to defend the result. It's as simple as that! Let me copy paste what you said and make yours my words  :
OBRIGADA, PORTUGAL!!! OBRIGADA, LUIS FIGO!!! (Figo, as Scolari said, should have the opportunity to play for at least 15 more years! He'll always be my favourite player and he's an example of a "Senhor do Futebol" , inside and outside the pitch!)
OBRIGADA, SCOLARI!!! I've accompanied this team ever since '96 (due to my age  ), when we were still a growing team and got happy whenever we reached the quarter-finals in the Euros. Now I can see we're finally among the best and can play at the same level of a great team such as France!

Congratulations France.
What i think of the match is,Portugal played well in the first minutes much better than france. Its true that we didnt saw Henry, Zidane and Ribery doing a good game but our team didnt play much better.The penalty didnt exist it was a excelent diving (French players can dive to),but we didnt lose because of that.We didnt score any goal and we had a fiew chances.In the end i have to say that we didnt deserve to win.One team that want to be worlchampion cant play like that. Who will win the wcup? I dont know...its difficult to say who. Good luck for both teams. Italy x France Congratulations for our team,they tried hard to win.And they fight in the last fiew minutes quite well.Now its time to win Germany.OK! GO PORTUGAL |

Great post Striker, but concerning your last sentence, I wonder where do you take that from, probably a declaration of a portuguese player or Scolari himself who is surely fluent in French language ? Translation is treason sometimes...
However, Domenech had a very bad experience with a portuguese team when he was coaching the under 21 team. Does it ring a bell to you ? Or do you need me to refresh your memory ?
Certainly not an excuse but it could explain a little bit of teasing from Domenech... BTW Ronaldo was part of that "famous" U-21 team and this could also be an explanation why he has been booed by the French fans. |

It comes in every portuguese newspapers, and Scolari mentioned it (without the words, of course) in the press release after the match...
I know... it's a one-side story... but as you know, in the end there are a lot of reporters in the pitch, and of course the portuguese reporters will give allways more importance to that than any other thing that happened meanwhile, like the friendly hug that Figo gave Zidane and the fact that they changed their jerseys... But one thing is for sure: that is not the right thing to do when your a National coach... you have to know how to loose, but it's even more important to know how to win... |

Itīs true that we lost and must accept it but is also true that during the match the french couch spent all th game insinuating the portuguese were diving (trying to influnnece the referee with gestures) and was also challenging Scolari and at the end said this words "I fu*cke*d you once again". But then didnīt have the courage to go close to Scolari and Scolari of course couldnīt salute such a miserable man. What fairplay is this? What kind of man is this? while youīre calling names to Scolari i guess you must understand why Scolari was so irritated.
So after this i wish Itay wins and send french home crying like babies. |

As Striker said, this is a one side story...
Yes Domenech spent all the game insinuating that the Portuguese were diving and I admit it was not necessary to point at it ... since it was so obvious that the whole world could see it ! "So after this i wish Itay wins and send french home crying like babies." Bahh, they are going home anyway after the match because this is a final remember...
And if Zidane cries at the end of the match, I do not think this will be like a baby... and I must confess that it will be a great emotion for me too and I am 41 years old ... |

Since they donīt take the award, for me they can go anywhere. They win with a digusting penalty. For me they donīt deserve to be in a final since there were other teams that deserved it more (Portugal also, but not just Portugal). We didnīt pass quarters or semi-finals because a penalty, you can call us everything you want, but you can never say that Portugal dindīt score with merit and fruit of bad moves. |

France were the better side and I think they playd wel within themselves. Portugals play was good but the were toothless in attack. Zidane took his penalty so well and I thought Ribery and Malouda were excellent

Iīm not bad loser. If the french coach dindīt have that stupid attitude i would accept it very well. But he criticized Portugal before the game and behaved a lot worse. I donīt have anything against France. But that penalty shouldnīt be the end of the game. It was very questionable and we also deserved to have at least one penalty, but the referee never gave it to us and i think thatīs in part because of the bad reputation the foreign press gave to us. But thatīs over. If i was bad loser i wouldnīt accept the defeat against Germany. And i accept it. Besides, Portugal national team was received by portuguese fans as if they were champions. We are not bad losers... |

Eheh! We're not France and not used to the best places, so, for us, it was great. Better than that was the performance of our players, of which people around here are so proud. This team managed to reach the 2nd best place ever in all Portugal's squad's history.
In the quarter-finals we were the only team that had never won a WorldCup and the only country with less than 40 million people! We are happy! |
