Schalke director Andreas Muller is already looking to strengthen the club's attacking options for next season after admitting his interest in Chelsea striker Mikael Forssell.
The Gelsenkirchen outfit are currently second in the Bundesliga and 14 points behind newly-crowned champions Bayern Munich, despite beating Felix Magath's side 1-0 in March to move three points clear at the top of the table. Since that game Bayern have taken all three points from every match they have played, while Schalke have lost five of their eight games over the same period. The reason for Schalke's demise lies in attack, where Ailton, Gerald Asamoah and Ebbe Sand have all hit barren spells. Muller wants to address those shortcomings by beefing up the attack this summer and sees Forssell as the man to spearhead his team's Bundesliga challenge next season. "If there is ever a possibility of financing a deal for such a player, then we need to explore it," he said. The Finnish striker has a proven track record in the Bundesliga after hitting seven goals in 12 appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach during a loan spell at the Foals in 2003. However a bid for Forssell has been described as a gamble by Schalke general manager Rudi Assauer, who told DSF television: "Mikael has a known knee problem and that is always a little dangerous." Schalke will be looking to seal their place in next season's Champions League with a win in Freiburg in the final game of the season on Saturday. |

I dont know about this one. Will Chelsea shunt him out again after proving himself at Birmingham ? Or will they take the risk and give him a go to see what he can do. I think a move to Schalke would be great for him and will give him first team football.
