Yes, it was a disappointing attitude by Figo (and he's my favourite player ever) that made me sad. And even though he might have been provoked by the Dutch ever since the beggining of the match, there are no excuses for this aggression (you musn't respond to violence with violence) and he was well punished by the referee. I just keep wondering why the heck you keep bringing up these kinds of situations that happen (unfortunately, I must say) with EVERY single team and get so shocked and infuriated when it has to do with Portugal! Yes, they make mistakes; yes, they occasionally are aggressive; yes, they might sometimes fake fouls - no one denies that! But tell me one player and one team that hasn't had ONE episode similar to that! England? ("What are we? Are we too honest?") I don't think so. Please stop with that kind of insinuations and quit this obession with the what you call "pointless little country" (as someone in this forum wrote in a recent post)! |

Benfica won twice the European Cup - in 60/61 (the runner-up was Barcelona) and in 61/62 (against Real Madrid) - and made it to the final for 5 times more. That was just a couple of years before England won the world cup, right? |

YES WELL BENFICA KNOCKED OUT THE DEFENDING CHAMPIONS. I SUPPOSE THAT IT IS REALLY SOME BIG ACHIEVEMENT FOR BENFICA TO DEFEAT SUCH MIGHTY CLUB.
YOU'LL NEVER WALK ....... ALOOONE! |

Yes, it was a great achievement! R. Madrid had won 5 European Cups in the previous years. Thanks for reminding me of that. It makes me even more proud. |
