Uhh .. yeh ... English Horn!!

And I suppose Miguel was diving was he? That's why he left the most important game of his life half way through - to keep up the pretence.

If that was a penalty then the one where they pushed ronaldo was too.

Portugal played better. They were more offensive. France just defended.... well, but yet... its embarassing that a team that has so many good players has to defend agains portugal.... trully discusting...

He was tripped without a doubt and France deserved to win the game.

I hope Zidane gets to lift the cup.

No it wasn't a penalty. For all his whining at the end of last season's Champions League final about the antics of some of the Barca players, Henry has proven himself tobe no better than they, despite his protestations.

I really do not want to see Henry lifting the WC, and for that reason I'll be supporting Italy.

contact? yes. penalty? no. contact does not equal penalty, especially in such an important match. theres always going to be contact in the box in a game, especially during corners.. thus you call a penalty for the henry/carvalho incident then you need consistency and you cant have the ref giving 10 penalties in a match. what the ref should be looking for is if a defender BRINGS a player down, not if the player feels contact and decides thats enough and doesnt try to keep his footing. which is exactly what henry did, i have no doubt he could have continued but after feeling contact and having played a heavy touch that was heading to the other portugese defender he made a decision that the ref should have ignored (not carded). ronaldo on the other hand should definately have been carded for his blatant dive without a hint of contact. no, im not biased. im aussie. i like to watch good football. heck i like watching ronaldo most of the time.. so portugese fans take it easy and give me a composed, mature reply

I think that it wasn´t penalty in the both cases.Henry sense de contact and dive and Ronaldo dive cleary.
What you say its true france played very badly, and defended well the result,we played a litlle better.
But we didnt score...its life.

Nobody can say that Henry is a cheater. He grab the oportunity thats all.If we had that chance we would make the same, like all other teams.

I am Italian, if that makes any difference.....

Anyway, Henry lifted his foot over Carvalho's first lunge, but then Carvalho wacked his other foot into Henry's shin on his standing leg.

A foul is a foul, so it does not matter if a player 'makes the most of it'.

A definite penalty for France.

I'm not so sure on this one. At first the commentators are like 'definitely no penalty' one australian coach said 'yellow card'. Then the next day they changed their minds saying 'penalty but give Henry a yellow card---is that possible? Not in FIFA history'. ???

Henry obviously dived. I would say if France was given a penalty kick for that, to be fair the ref should have given a penalty kick to Portugal when Cristiano Ronaldo got dragged down in the box (think he wants to or could head butt the ball in). If it was suspicious to be a dive, well same goes for Henry. You can see the french player holding onto Ronaldo's shirt. Only fair.

I'm not calling Henry a cheater. Cos every player dives anyhow. Point is to maximize chances for your country. I understand that. Its up to the ref to decide.

This is an independent and reasonable opinion, one of the most reasonable I read untill now.

The truth is: Henry really was fouled by Ricardo Carvalho. Yes, he dived and "theatrelized" a little the tackle, but it existed. This is as true as C.Ronaldo feeling Sagnol's hands in his back and "theatrelize" a real tougth push...

But you're right in one thing: it's the ref responsability to decide wether or wether not that is a penalty or not...

I think its deserved only because it was a stupid swing of the leg from Carvalho but if it was against England i would say it was a dive

A penalty for me, but Henry fell like 30 minutes after the contact.
He has been disappointing in my opinion.

Penalty kick from henry : deserved or cheat ?
