Well I guess its only fair for the English, youse poor people had to settle for two English scapegoats for your last two world cup exits (Beckham & Seaman) so I guess its only right that youse try and some how pin it on a foreigner.I must say myself I missed the incident were Ronaldo called Rooney over, wrote his name in his book and give him a red card but I will take your word that it was him who sent Rooney off.
p.s All English fans boo Ronaldo like mad if he stays at Man Utd, we could do with a few more performances like the one last night. |

If you bothered to read any of the other articles, specifically "Backlash begins..." you would note that Ronaldo was hailed as the best player on the field, a sentiment echoed by the Daily Telegraph (as printed in Canada's National Post), and Toronto's Globe and Mail's sportswriters also. Fact is he probably IS the best young player. Suck it up! I am SO SICK of the ranting from an oblivion where Rooney is somehow a hero for having a short fuse and an apparently uncontrolled violent streak. We would all like to see Ronaldo play more class football - as he can, and did throughout much of yesterday's game - and less histrionics. But as I have said before, talk to Scolari, they're his boys and do what he tells them. I didn't hear all this self-righteous cant about the evils of diving and the cheating Portugese BEFORE Rooney was sent off. Diving and exaggerating isn't cheating if the Ref agrees. Like he did with Henry. |

I whole heartedly agree. I get sick off being lumped in with all of the "ignorant" Americans. I have been to countries all over the world and being ignorant is not an American thing. Instead it seems that everywhere you go, there are ignorant people. Including this forum. I will discuss football with anyone. Rooney should have been sent off. Ronaldo dives. He has done it forever. WHy was anyone thinking he would be different for the WOrld Cup. Because the refs were going to punish him? You are only in the wrong if you get caught. He never gets caught. Portugal/ England game.... are you people really arguing over PSO? There is a 50/50 chance that you will lose. If you really want to brag, win the game in regulation. I don't care if ronaldo is the best or worst player of the world cup I don't care if you don't like him I don't care if he stays or not at Man Utd I don't care if you say he dives or not I don't care if you like france now I don't care if you don't want him more in England I don't care if you like or don't like the portuguese team The only thing i care... is: - We beat England - FC Porto beat Man Utd and won the Champions League - Chelsea are owning because Mourinho is there - Benfica beat Liverpool and Man Utd last season - Ronaldo owns at the Portuguese National team and at Man Utd I'm really too happy to pay attention to your pain and suffering...

Ronaldo is a fantastic player and its sour grapes on the English side of things. Was it his fault Rooney stamped and pushed 2 seperate players or England missed3 pens etc. Portugal have beaten us the last 3 times Euro 2000 3-2 after being 2 down euro 2004 and last week. Lets face it we are a quarter final team at best the better team won well done to Portugal.

Fair enough I probably agree Sven is poor tactically. He should of in extra time played 3-4-2 as Portugal were offering little threat put Wallcott and Crouch up front take Lampard off and play Joe Cole Lennon Hargreaves and Gerrard in midfield with Carrgaher/Neville Rio and Terry in defence and if any defender should have taken the pen it should of been either Rio or Terry (done them before) if he had done the above I think we would have made smis at best. We were that negative that we got what we deserved and please folks stop slaughtering Ronaldo what about Figo against Holland Henry against Spain and that horro tackle Ronaldo suffered in the same game that Figo misbehavioured against Holland. These incidents are much worse than Ronaldo and you lot are sour losers I am a shamed at being English at least other nations lose with dignity, pride and respect no wonder a lot of people dislike us we aren't all like that. I hope Ronaldo stays at Manu as the premier league needs superstars and entertainers and he is one. Commisarations to Portugal and congratulations to the immense Zizou and France.

Mate I have praised Cristiano I think he is an outstanding player and a great guy (does things for charity etc) he doesn't deserve this and a lot of it is jealousy as he has the complete package. Good luck to him and Portugal who were magnificent hosts in 2004. You are a fantastic country
