With Roeder selling a couple of players without bying anyone new(Butt & Milner return from loan spells) I was just wondering how much Glen will have to spend and who he will buy, if anyone.

I reckkon he will have from between 30 million to 50 million and it could be more if we got the takeover. I am sure Freddy knows that to get this club succesful Newcastle will have to seriously strengthen and do it wisely. Not i.e. 8 million for Boumsong or 1.5 million for Amady Faye etc.

If this is the case a relegation battle looms large. With City strengthening well Everton Blackburn Spurs West Ham Bolton and no dobut the likes of Boro will do to. It will be a real struggle if we dont splash the cash. Just look at todays match for evidnence of that and Freddy may have spent money but he has taken a hell of a lot more money out of the cub forhimself than spending on players. I think he is just in it for himself.

if we had between £30-£50m we would have signed players by now.

Glen will have about £15m to spend if that.

Not the amount but the quality of signings

I, like many others, feel that we need more money spent on players than will be made available. There are many reasons for this, not least the poor transfer history of the club over the past 10 years (not just lately with GS). Lost huge amounts of money on Robert, Bellamy and Viana etc. etc.

So I suspect that we need to identify some real quality bargans and bring some of the kids through if we are not to continue the supposed boom and clear bust we are now experiencing

I think Glenn will have about £8Mill to spend regardless of UEFA Cup and maybe double that with UEFA cup guaranteed. He can prob use any more he gets for players he can somehow offload. The wage bill is the main problem for us i think

Imagine how much the likes of Boumsong, Luque, Bramble, Dyer, Emre, Parker, etc are on. Does anyone know if we are still paying Shearer his full wages for nhis services as 'Sporting Ambassador'?
