Real Madrid coach Wanderley Luxemburgo has refused to be drawn on whether he is interested in signing Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo - but admits he is an admirer of the player.
Speculation in the Spanish press has touted Ronaldo as a possible replacement for compatriot Luis Figo and sources supposedly close to him have been reported in Diario AS as saying the 20-year-old would welcome the challenge of playing for Los Merengues. Luxemburgo has tried to avoid the question, but it is hard for him to ignore it totally. "I don't like to talk about signings," said the Brazilian. "I read the papers every day and see a lot of names, some of which are going to be signed and others not. "Cristiano Ronaldo is a very strong young man, he plays out wide, but he could play more as a striker. "He is a great player like others we have spoken about such as Joaquin. Contracts are something we discuss inside the club and before the season starts there will be 50 players linked to Real Madrid." |
