I dont doubt you follow results and watch some highlights, but I'm sure you dont watch our football as much as I do and know the biggests young stars. And how can you say they arent being picked by european clubs? Only last season, from what i can remember now, were sold Pato to Milan, Breno to FC Bayern, Lima to Betis, Diego to Almeria, Lucas to Liverpool, Carlos Alberto to Bremen, William to Shakhtar, Marcelo to Real Madrid, Jonatas to Espanyol...all quality players, and this without mention the unknown teenagers that we only hear about when they're already shining in europe, like Arsenals Denílson and Eduardo.
And im not cocky. I do expect us to beat anyone and everyone but only because our team can beat anyone and everyone. of course sometimes we end disapointed like in 2006, but we will always enter any and every competition to win, not "reach the quarter-finals". When we demand our team to win everything we arent being cocky, we just know our potential and expect to fullfill it |

Nah I watch the games on my phone or on computers and stuff at school and if I miss games I always catch up through highlights. I'm an avid Sao Paulo fan, have been for about 2 years now. But before that I reguarly watched as a neutral. To be fair in comparison to Brazil, Australia do have a few less young players going over to Europe but I guess it isn't as widely publicised because Brazilians are everywhere Australia are a footballing nation. I never said they were a big nation but there was potential for us to become a big nation, we have the players, we are starting to get the coaches (Hiddink, Verbeek). Quarter finals is a minimum for Australia in 2010. 2014 and 2018 I expect a final or maybe even a win. Well not really 2014 cause that'll be Brazil's considering its on home turf. |

Would you mind naming me the young stars in São Paulo and their first XI? If you call yourself a fan you should be able to do it without consulting any website nor googleing it And dont take this personal mate but I think you're absurdly deluded with your national team. Australia has certainly improved and its not the sparring it used to be some years ago anymore, but I think you're as close of winning a World Cup as is say Fulham of winning a Champions League (nothing against Fulham) |

If Fulham had McDonald they could win the Champions League
On a serious note, apologise Aussie, but Austrailia are poo. No world cup win for at least 500 years I reckon |

I haven't the motivation to read through 7 pages-worth, but is there really a debate going on about whether Australia are better than Brazil?

It didn't say we'd win 2010 or even 2014. 2018 will be our year. If you saw some of the young players coming through you'd see where i'm coming from.
Breno was a hot young talent before being sold to bayern, Dagoberto is still with the club, a great striker. Adriano and Rogerio Ceni despite not being the youngest players are still great assests to the club, Adriano is only new though since moving on loan from Inter Milan but made an impact on debut with 2 great goals. There are more players to name but at the moment I can't think of them and like you said I can't use google or any other website. I am not saying Australia will win a World Cup immediately. 10 years we will win it or get close is all i'm saying, the players we have coming through are brilliant, even in todays paper there was an article about Barcelona making a $2M bid for Adelaide striker Nathan Burns. The big clubs know these players potential and are all racing for their signatures. Even Reading have a future Socceroo or two, Adam Federici isn't of that standard yet but I remember playing with Oliver Bozanic for NSW and after most games his agent would be telling him "scouts from ________ were here today" or "there is someone from _______ i'd like you to meet".
Hey am I a glory hunter? I was watching for a few years as a neutral and always like Internacional's style but settled on Sao Paulo because of the goalkeeping prowess of Rogerio Ceni. He is one of the true greats of Brazilian football and is also good for a goal
Not who is better but about Austrlaia's standard compared to Brazil's. Not saying they're even close yet, but in the future quite possibly Austrlaia could be up there with some of the best. And before I get shot down again for suggesting Australia could win a WC think of all the other countries who expect the same at every WC but never come close. England ring a bell anyone? Australia will be up there in around 10 years. It might take longer but they will be a top footballing nation in years to come. |

We have one of your 'hot prospects' at Liverpool actually, in 17-year-old 'keeper Dean Bouzanis. Whether or not he plays for your country is another matter, mind, as he's played for both the Australian U-17's and Greek U-19's team. I believe he's yet to decide which to play for in the future.

Yeah I know fo Bouzanis, i've trained with him a few times in various representative squads (none for Australia) and i've sat on the bench twice while he played and played once with him on the bench lol. He is a great goalkeeper and I believe he will play for Australia. He did an interview with The World Game in Australia when he signed with Liverpool and said he'd play for Greece youth teams to honour his heritage but Australia would always be his country of choice

Every nation has exciting youngsters ALF, does not mean they will instantly come together in the future and challenge for a world cup.
Nations such as Spain for example, who i am sure have far more talented youngsters for many years now and have a long term football league structure, yet they have no glory. Your claims that Australia are not far off a World Cup win just because you quite like some of the younger players in the country, are quite frankly embarrassing. |

Just to add something to the pot, Australia are well on their way up in the Rankings side of things. They are now ranked 38th in the world, thats a 10 position increase in only a month. Only the Ivory Coast(+14 positions) and Ghana(+29 positions) have had a bigger increase in postition in the top 50.
ps. Wow go Ghana i didn't have a clue that they are now 14th in the World! |

Ghana are a great team and we should have had higher ranking since before the World Cup. We beat Uruguay and qualified for a World Cup beating Japan, losing to Brazil and drawing with Croatia before losing to Italy and we actually lost over 15 spots at the end of that month with countries like uruguay staying up and guinea etc going ahead of us.
