Clyde management row rumbles on |
|
Clyde have yet to resolve a damaging split between manager Graeme Roberts and assistant Joe Miller.
Club director John Ruddy told BBC Sport that their investigation was still continuing into claim and counter-claim over a post-season trip to Canada. The probe is likely to end with the departure of Roberts or Miller, who has been taking pre-season training. But Ruddy said: "There's nothing unusual in that as Joe took most of the training last season." Clyde, who play a second-string Rangers on Saturday at Broadwood, hope to complete their internal probe before the start of pre-season training on 26 June. "But it's very important that we go through the process according to employment law," said Ruddy, who did not fear that the continuing uncertainty would harm preparations for the First Division season. "Things are coming along fine. "We have already had two bounce games, against Dumbarton and Kilmarnock, and won them both." Clyde have been inactive in the transfer market so far this summer, but Ruddy did not foresee a problem with that either. "We had a young squad last season, most of whom have re-signed, and they are one year older and more mature this time round," he said. "Some clubs have scrambled around signing players as they became available. "But I think there will still be lots of quality players around before the start of the season." Rangers' first-team defeated Jomo Cosmos 2-0 in South Africa on Friday evening. So the side, led by coach Ian Durrant, that will arrive in Cumbernauld on Saturday afternoon will be a mix of players out of new manager Paul Le Guen's first-team plans and up-and-coming youngsters. Ole Budtz, a former Kickers Offenbach defender who has been on trial at Murray Park having missed out on the South Africa trip, could also be given the chance to prove his worth. |
