Newcastle United have drawn Latvian side Ventspils in the final Uefa Cup qualifying round.

Having overcome Lillestrom in the Intertoto Cup, the Premiership outfit will now be confident they can book their place in the Uefa Cup proper.

Scottish Cup winners Gretna have been handed a fantastic looking tie against Irish side Derry City - both of whom will now fancy their chances of progressing.

Drogheda United and Llanelli both come up against Scandinavian opposition in the shape of Norwegian outfit Start and Odense of Denmark respectively.

well i hope Newcastle can make it to the Uefa Cup proper , it would be a big boost for the players and fans . The can play awful sometimes though so nothing is guaranteed with this tie .

What a game derry - gretna should be! Ill probably go to Derrys home game if I can get tickets. Theyre usually our biggest rivals but this time ill be supporting them. They will probably be favourites but it wont be easy as Gretna proved in their cup run last season.

Drogheda have a decent tie too, I dont know a thing about IK Start but I doubt theyre much better than HJK Helsinki so again I would expect a win for Drogheda

I always thought that there were 3 rounds aswell but I know Gretna only have to play 1 qualifier. So it must be only 2.

But after this round there is a first round then the groups so thats kinda like a qualifing round aswell.
