Yates set for switch |
|
Morecambe appear to be on the verge of snapping up Leek Town defender Adam Yates.
Shrimpers boss Sammy McIlroy spotted Yates in a pre-season game between the two sides and was quick to make an approach for the stopper. The youngster is due to play the second of two permitted trial games on Saturday against Barrow, although McIlroy has already revealed a deal is on the table for the versatile full back. The 23-year-old former Crewe Alexandra youth player has previously spent a season on loan with Morecambe's Nationwide Conference rivals Halifax Town. If Yates signs, he could go straight into the side to face Nigel Clough's Burton Albion in the season opener on August 12. |
