Midfielder Jay Smith wants to stay at Southend even if the club loses Saturday's League Two play-off final.
The 23-year-old missed the whole of the current season with an Achilles injury but said: "I am back in training and touch wood I am over my problems now. "I've spoken to the chairman and the manager and will talk again next week. I want us to get promoted then I will sort my contract out. "But I've never hidden that I want to stay whether we go up or not." |
