Terrific performance by Melbourne. I was particularly impressed by Grant Brebner, as well as Fred when he played in behind the strikers. Alessandro also looks promising. The Muscat-Brebner midfield combination looks a real winner.
Adelaide didn't adapt well to Melbourne's tactics and apart from a period in the second half, never made things happen. And while Greg Owens looked good, as did Spagnuolo and Dodd, they couldn't bring Qu into the game. They really need Rech back to full fitness and missed Costanzo's presence at the back (though both did come on during the second half). The goals were a first half penalty for Muscat (won by Alessandro) and a goal by sub Claudinho (just following Adelaide's only period of dominance in the game) |

Have you guys heard anything more about Muscat and Alessandro's supposed bust-up at half-time? It can't have been too significant surely.
I agree though with Sydney having a problem now, our central midfield looks a bit shaky without Yorke. McFlynn's not bad, but Talay isn't really up to it imo. Wouldn't be surprised if Milligan was moved there for the time being. Will be a great game, but I think I'll be the unhappy one afterwards. |
