Barcelona have made contact with Chievo Verona for striker Amauri.

Chievo have slapped a £7 million asking price on Amauri, almost double what they were seeking a week ago, which has fueled talk that bigger clubs, including Barca, have made their interest known to the Verona club in recent days.

It's been suggested that Amauri, while flattered by the offer from Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini, is now ready to stay with Chievo until January before moving to the Nou Camp and joining compatriot Ronaldinho at Barca.

Is there any truth in this rumour?

Yeah he did quite well this season with Chievo. He is a powerful forward, heading is his best skill and he isn't very slow, technique is not bad at all.
As I said he did quite well last season but before this year he didn't played so much to prove his quality

I don't know if he can play for Italy. I'm not sure about the laws on naturalization in Italy. I know that 10 years of stay here are required to gain the italian citizenhood. He is in Italy since 2001 so if he goes to Barca will not be able to gain the italian citizenhood. But i'm not sure Confused

However I don't think he will be good enough to play for the Azzurri. He is 26 and Italy has younger forwards as Gilardino, Pazzini, and unfortunately Cassano that in my opinion are better than him although they have different skills.

Ok thanks, however im pretty certain its 5/6 years max. Senna was allowed too play for Spain because he has lived there for 5 or more years, so i dont see why Italy would be much more.

This was a 1997 law and probably it's changed now, forgive my ignorance then...
Whatever he has just signed for Palermo so there is no problem with citizenhood Laughing

Razz

He will do pretty well I think. Palermo has a good team this year a pretty good midfield with Simplicio, Bresciano, Corini and good wingers like Diana, Amauri will score more than the 11 gols of the last season.

Barcelona move for Chievo ace Amauri
