Lyon make Utaka move |
|
Skysports.com can reveal that Lyon have made a move for Rennes striker John Utaka.
The French champions are thought to be keen to bring in a pacey striker before the transfer window closes at the end of the month. Lyon boss Gerard Houllier has been disappointed with the displays from John Carew since his arrival in France and is keen to make his final summer signing a new striker. Nigerian international Utaka is seen as one of the best finishers in Ligue 1 and could add a different dimension to Houllier's squad. Utaka scored 11 goals last season, including hat-tricks against Lyon and Lens, and skysports.com understand the 24-year-old will complete a move to the Stade Gerland in the coming days. Lyon are not short of striking talent at the club, with Sidney Govou, Fred and Sylvain Wiltord all on the books but Houllier looks set to add to his array of striking options with the signing of Utaka. |
