Does anybody think that it is possible/ realistic for somebody who will never play pro football to be pro league manager or coach. Do the badges give you the added knowledge you need? Are clubs willing to take these people on as managers, assistant managers and coaches?

Of course its possible AND realistic you just need to make sure you get the contacts thats all, and you may wanna think about starting in the lower league and working up for experience

Kl, how long do you think it would take to complete all badges and then get the contacts you need. Personally i think somewhere like scotland is a good place for building a good reputation. And how much of a rep/ or good cv would you need to manage/ coach at a league two or conference team?

Mate, I really can't answer that as its all down on you how quick you passed the badges and how picky the teams are as to their managers, u just have to apply and see what the response is

with the modern game now anything is possible and it has happened to a certain former translator if i am not mistaken.

however you would deffo need the right contacts and support and probably have years and years of building a reputation through all levels until finally getting a decent league job.

NA its all about knowledge. If you can get an interview then your knowledge will shine through.

Ten years ago I'd have said yes to day I'd say yes but needs a lot of work, not to put you off the FIFA coaching license which is needed to coach at the top level can take a year to complete and cost many many thousands of pounds. The best idea if your young enough is to start off coaching kids, look for work overseas and work your way up that way. I know of one lad who went to Africa coached local schools and now coaches the countries under 16 national team.

The problem over hear to coach at national level you would be expected to have played at the top level, but it is possible .

jose mourinho wasnt a player (or a top 1) but he was a good communicator and motivator to his peers and he used them to progress,

Just to point out that Jose played for his dads football team. There are 2 points to note here. 1 is that the chances of him entering the professional world without the connection of his father would mostly likely have been slim and 2. to then go onto manage without being in the professional game thanks to his father would have been slimmer still.
