Fair enough, thought it deserved it's own thread as it's a major transfer.

Its a good buy a young player who can fill the gap in the squad left by ronaldos departure now saf just needs to buy benzema

You can't compare Ronaldo and Valencia together that Ludicrous, Valencia is nowhere his level and Utd have took a Hugee step backwards.

I'm quite happy for a transfer of this importance to have its own topic so carry on as normal Dave....

Any major transfers like this so that everyone can join in what ever team they support and debate it should have its own thread and is a must.

So what do you think guys?

Has Sir Alex Ferguson spent his money wisely or paid far too much for a player that is still unproven at this level?

I'm convinced Antonio Valencia will shock some people here. Granted he's not Ronaldo level but he's actually quite good. A lot of you are ignoring the fact that playing for Man Utd, who spend more time attacking than defending, will do heaps and bounds for his game.

Hleb, are you kidding? He's 28 and wouldn't know end product if it slapped him in the face. Robben hasn't passed the ball since he left Chelsea.

Valencia is a reliable winger, he's nothing special but given the very inflated market this summer (Ronaldo worth £80m, Johnson worth £20m etc..) I don't think it's that bad a deal.

He's hard working, EPL proven and young. Given the fact that only really Ribery was a better fit and realistically available (I say realistically, but the price would suggest otherwise) we could have done far worse.

Either way he's easilly worth £10-12m given his age and experience in the league so at worst we've paid £5-7m more than we should which certainly won't keep me up at night.

Who said he's Ronaldo's replacement?
what? 17m from the 80m they got for Roni.

And i think he is a decent winger.
He was my favourite Wigan player and i knew he has potential
for Champions League football.

He is a decent winger and with much better players around him than at Wigan he will do a decent job for Utd

Its a shame Utd missed out on Glen Johnson though and what a bargain? oh well

You'll see, next season he will automatically be world class because he is wearing a United top.
Top player who can change the game. A bit over priced but so was Johnson.
It will be good to see him play againts the best in europe.

No it will take some time if he is to be viewed as world class but he'll do a job for now as Utd adjust.

Yes it will be interesting to see how Johnson gets on won't it. As he is better at attacking than defending he will have an interesting time in Europe.

Yeah he's only 22 so he has a far way to go to hit his prime.
Johnson will flurish more in Europe in my opinion.
Can take more chances counter attacking and getting the ball to Torres.
