Real Madrid have reached an agreement with O.Lyon for the transfer of Benzema for around 35m€ (28m pounds). This piece of news are now in Marca and As (major sports newspapers in Spain) and say both club will make the announcement in a matter of hours.
Florentino is building a scary team!! Very Happy

Real Madrid are signing all the top players maybe clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and maybe Liverpool will give up on trying to sign some of the big names and put money into their academys and trying to develop top quality youngsters. Which may not be a bad thing.

From what I understand Real Madrid have not reached an agreement with Lyon for Benzema

Just because Marca or AS claim a deal has been done doesnt really mean anything or makes it official.

Everybody in the Spanish media was claiming recently that Villa had signed for Real Madrid but nothing has happened!

My sources tell me that Manchester United are the only club who have made an official approach for the Lyon striker.

So until I see Real Madrid make an official announcement that Benzema is their player no deal has been done.

I think your source is wrong there Hams. As Lyon themselves have said that Madrid have made a bid but it hasn't been accepted. I expect a decision on the Real Madrid bid to be accepted by the end of the day.

Benzema's dream is to play for Real Madrid so i would expect he would push any deal through. Or try to.

I didn't say it is official, but I said there's an agreement. Believe it or not, both Real Madrid and O.Lyon will make it official tomorrow (when the player returns from his vacation).

Nobody said Villa had signed for Real Madrid. They said He would sign for Real Madrid, don't try to take that as an advantage because it is not true.

Who are your "sources".

All I have read is Sky Sports and one other newspaper:

Quote:

Lyon have confirmed that they have received a bid for Karim Benzemafrom an unnamed club, but insist that any agreement over the France international's transfer is yet to be reached.

The side in question is thought to be Real Madrid with strong reports in both Spain and France linking them with a £35million move for the 21-year-old.

The striker is also been rumoured to have interested Manchester United with manager Sir Alex Ferguson said to be a big admirer of the gifted youngster.

The Premier League champions have £80million burning a hole in their pocket after the confirmed sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real and know that they must find someone to take on the scoring burden left by the Portugal winger.

Benzema would fit the bill perfectly, with 66 goals in 149 appearances for Lyon, but it now seems Real have stolen a march on the Red Devils despite the Ligue 1 side's defiance.

"We certainly did receive an offer of a sum appreciably superior to the sum that has been mentioned, but nothing says that it comes from Real," Lyon director Olivier Blanc told L'Equipe.

"There is no agreement with anyone."

Most sites seem to believe it to be an English club, I have heard Arsenal and Manchester United.

You're basing that on the Euros though.By that logic Pavluachenko is much much better than Toni,Gilardino and certainly Rooney. How about the Champions League?

toni and gilardinio are rubbish so roman is probably better...on the matter i think benzema is really overrated and madrid have paid far much more than they should have

Bit harsh on Huntelaar sb, he scored 8 goals in 20 apps and only joined in January, think he could be very good next season if he gets a good few games.

Anyway i'm happy with this transfer, it's another player United won't be able to get! Very Happy

I agree. It feels wrong that Huntelaar should be the one to depart from Real Madrid, to allow Benzema to come into the squad. Especially after such a short period at the club. Ideally i would have Raul play a smaller role, in the forthcoming campaign. But i don't think it will happen, considering he had a good season last year.

Lyon have announced that star striker Karim Benzema is to become the latest player to join Real Madrid.

It was quite unexpected TBH. I never felt that they will sign Benzema. How about Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to United as a make weight in the Ronaldo deal, we never know.
