Ugarte's point to prove |
|
Denis Smith has warned Juan Ugarte that he has much to prove if he is to win a move back to Wrexham.
The Spanish striker is back in his native Basque Country in a bid to regain optimum fitness having been released by Crewe at the close of the past campaign. Ugarte proved a relevation during his first spell at The Racecourse Ground in grabbing 16 goals in 23 appearances before moving to Crewe, then of The Championship. Ugarte returned to Wrexham last season for a less successful spell on loan and Smith is adamant the player must pull out all the stops if he is to be handed a contract. "I've been told that Juan is running and training every day at home in San Sebastian," said Wrexham boss Smith. "But he has got to come back here and prove his match fitness before we even think of offering him a contract." |
