Power praises U's fans |

Cambridge United chairman Lee Power recognises the importance of The U's next two matches as the managerless club look to claw themselves away from the foot of the Nationwide Conference.
Were it not for Crawley Town's ten-point penalty for going into administration, United would be rock-bottom of the table. As it is they are managerless following the dismissal of Rob Newman (pictured) after Friday night's 3-1 home reverse to Exeter City. Power chose to praise the commitment of supporters after The U's worst start to a league season in over 60 years. "I have been astounded at the level of passion and commitment the fans demonstrate here," he said. "I have been involved with many football clubs and seen supporters all over the country, but the scene that greeted me at St Albans a couple of weeks ago was amazing and quite honestly these fans deserve to be given something to sing about. "Myself and Chris Turner worked hard with the players on Monday and outlined our expectations of them, and - and make no bones about it - the next two games against Forest Green and Kidderminster Harriers are already massive games for us." |
