Good game and very competitive as well. Our Kelly nearly got sent-off again Twisted Evil
She got booked because there was a wild sliding tackle on Jayne and she stopped the game by taking the ball with her hand while the ref was wawing play on. That's a stupid yellow card. And then she proceeds to do wild tackle and fouls in the next two minutes. The referee was lenient the whole game and she got away with it.

Chelsea started without Ellen White in front Shocked talking about shooting themselves in the foot.
She made a lot of damages as soon as she came in. Dunia Susi was a handfull and made it hard for Alex Scott for most of the game. There was a funny moment as well at half time when she went straight to the Arsenal dressing room instead of the Chelsea one Laughing
Kelly Smith made the first goal : a quaterback 30 yard pass from the center of the field to the left wing where Rachel crossed for Julie to score after a rebound.
Second goal a clearance by Emma was misjudged by the center back number 5 leaving Julie with a one on one. She managed to put in between the leg of the keeper. That's a lucky goal because 9 time out 10 the keeper will save it : basically the central nerves system kicks in after about 400 milliseconds while the reflex system does the job immediately about 50 milliseconds and there is a small gap when both system do not concure at about 200/300 mms and that's what happened.
HT 2-0 Second half 3-0 Ciara a corner kick or a free kick by Leanne and a winning headrer from Ciara or the 6 yards line. 4-0 Julie Lianne dribbling on the right wing a cutbak and Julie who managed to get unmarked from the center back with a good powerful finish.
4-1 Ellen White a clearance for the Chelsea defence knocked over the Arsenal center back and White beat Emma on the one on one. First domestic goal let in by the team that was not a penalty.

I forgot the teams :

Arsenal : no surprise all the big guns
Byrne Scott Grant Asante Phillip Chapman Ludlow Smith Sanderson Fleeting Yankey
Subs Davison for Yankey Larkin for Phillip Buet for Sanderson not used Spenser

Chelsea : Collie Perry De la Salle Cooper Downham Susi Clarke don't know the rest of the players.

Also Arsenal was very much more direct than usual , Emma did a lot more kicking than usual as Arsenal could do the usual slow build-up form the back due to Chelsea's pressing game. I think both teams were very aware of the opposition strentgh and lot of the play was to minimised the opponent weapons. Arsenal also was stronger physically than Chelsea and won the battle in the middle of the park due to this. That's why Chelsea subbed Nicki de la salle at half time because she was getting none of the ball.

IMO this one should be far from London actually.
First of all - the last one was next to London
and second: Leeds are far from London and came down to play v Arsenal at the FA Cup final.
Now they (and their fans) deserve for this League Cup final to be closer to Leeds.

as a neutral it was a pity that Chelsea gave away two soft goals early on, one a missed clearance and the other a bizarre goalkeeping error. From then on Chelsea came back into it a bit but the all round fluidity of Arsenals passing and their ability to win the 50-50 balls meant that Chelsea were always at full stretch to keep them out. Apart from the obvious stars I thought that Grant, Asante and Chapman were really good for their ability to win their tackles and then use the ball simply. There were so many things to admire from the star players that make them a joy to watch. It shows that the gap between Arsenal and the rest is still huge.

I think in two years Chelsea's players will have maturity and will be on par with Arsenal.
