Uefa Meeting - 17 June

Liverpool have to wait until a Uefa meeting on 17 June to find out if they can defend their trophy next year. The Reds will be taking part in the new Club World Championship in Japan in December, reprisenting Europe, but are still in hope that Uefa will change the rules and allow them to defend the Champions League trophy next season.

Under existing Uefa rules they will have to play in the Uefa Cup as they finished fifth in the Premiership and no country can have five clubs in the Champions League, but with Fifa announcing that they will reprisent Europe in this mini Championship, it adds further pressure on them to allow Liverpool into the Champions League.

They should be allowed in, maybee thwy should take a place away from italy as a consequence of inters flare incident and give it to l'pool??

There is a chance that UEFA might let them in......

I agree. I predicted it as soon as Liverpool won the title, that Liverpool will be playing next season in the competition.

How can Uefa not let them play?

They will look very silly having the competition without the champions playing - especially after FIFA invited Liverpool to reprisent Europe as champions in the Club Championships.

Yeh the champs should be allowed to play after they won it would look pointless in the next season if they dont av l'pool in the next season of Champions League, I think UEFA should definitely change the rules so it's fair and sqaure

like most people i agree , Uefa should change the rules to allow the champions to defend the title
regardless of whether they have qualified or not .
