Alemannia Aachen have appointed Michael Frontzeck as their new coach.
The 42-year-old former German international is the surprise choice to replace Dieter Hecking, who joined Bundesliga rivals Hannover last week.
Frontzeck spent several years working with Hans Meyer and Ewald Lienen at Borussia Monchengladbach before following Lienen to Hannover, but he has yet to be in charge of a professional club.
He will make his debut on the Aachen bench at home to Monchengladbach this weekend.
Bundesliga new boys Aachen have made a poor start to their league campaign, losing two of their first three games.
