Kuffour banned for Roma elbow |
|
Livorno's new defender Samuel Kuffour has been banned for three matches by Italy's ruling football body.
The former Bayern Munich powerhouse was found guilty of elbowing Christian Panucci during Livorno's game against his old team Roma in the opening Serie A fixtures on Sunday. Roma won the game 2-0, but it was a bad tempered affair and Kuffour was fortunate to escape punishment in the match. But television replays have been used to discipline the player, as the officials decided he acted with intent. It is not yet clear whether the Armando Picchi outfit will appeal the decision ahead of their second game, coming against Fiorentina on Sunday. |
