Now alot of you may look at this and laugh, but i think Shola can become a hero, im not saying he will be "the next Alen Shearer" because that is slightly insane. No offence Shola, but i was thinking about it and look at these points.

1) Playing through the pain barrier!

There has been alot of times were Shola stuck in when others would have taken of there boots, so to speek. The game before the 3-1 home win against Spurs he craked his front teeth and rather than sitting it out he played with a Mouth Shield. There has been other occasions with his hip.

2) Shear pressure!

I think we forget how long Shola had to eccept he would never be first choice, but whenever he was called apon he would play with his heart. Now he is arguabally our first choice striker. I have never seen anyone with his name on the back apart from him. although he has scored more than anyother this season.

3) Goals!

Shola Ameobi is Newcastles second highest goalscorer and a good bet for our top scorer this season, in my opinion. (injury's premitted)

Well done SHOLA, and keep it up.

Well done Shola, k

i admire him for playin on in this season so far, despite his re-occuring hip problems. as long as this doesnt cause him long term damage, i would encourage him to continue until he has to stop.

as for the goals, he is top scorer so far, but i believ that martins will be. shola cant play on througout the whole season, so when he goes, obafemi will be our main striker, and it is then that i think he will starts scoring.

bt anyway, go shola go! keep it up !1

as a self apointed shola's biggest fan i think he can be a hero even tho he already is the form he has hit recntly is nothing short of remarkable and he will only improve however i think tht the magies should get him into surgery now that they have rossi to help out up front, better he get better then can play without the pain

good player with lots of potential yet to be reached. feel sorry 4 him though because think he will be dropped when owens fit again because i cant see us payin all that money for martins just to drop him when owens fit again.

I feel very very sorry for Shola Ameobi, its terrible for any player to get injured for prolonged periods of time. However, I really must disagree with you justpaddy on several fronts. First of all, I dont understand how you can assertain that Ameobi has not been given a chance by the fans here at Newcastle. Infact the reason he is so unpopular and disrespected on this page and in general is that he has been given a prolonged period of chances over a three year stretch where he has consistantly failed to deliver. He barely scores, games regularly pass him by, he is virtually useles as a link up player and for a tall striker he cant head the ball and gets beaten in the air by defenders who are half his size in every match. His presence hinders our attacking capabilities when he plays and he is taking the place of a decent striker who could do a great job for us. I really feel that if Albert Luque was given half the faith and chances Ameobi gets then he could really do a job for us. But you see thats not how things work in Newcastle and consequencially we are joint bottom of the table, and believe me lads that has not been purely down to bad luck, its been bad management and an abismal selection policy of not playing your best players! Sorry for Shola, as I said its really crap to see any player injured for a long period but hopefull when he returns we will have a new hierarchy of strikers in place and he wont be able to get his place back and is moved on for the greater good of the club!!!

i like shola ameobi.. i fink hes got the passion to play for Newcastle.. he loves the club and i can see him becoming a tyneside heroe some of you may not agree with me but people have their own opinions, and what makes it better is that hes a geodire and he could even feature in the senior england team.
