Chelsea, Mourinho and Ashley Cole have all been found guilty in the Premier League's tapping-up probe.
Chelsea have been fined £300,000 and handed a suspended three-point deduction for their part. This is the biggest fine to be handed out to any club and is likely to set the precedent for future clubs. Ashley Cole was handed a £100,000 fine, while Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will have to pay £200,000. All have been given 14 days to launch an appeal. Your opinions. Are the punishments harsh enough? Or too harsh? Where does this leave Cole? Will he be shown the door at Arsenal? Will this be a valid deterrent for future clubs? |

They may for forced to. The simple fact is that the rule is illegal in my oppinion. Its there to protect the league and the sport in general, but it goes against all employers rights and human rights.
In any occupation, there is nothing to stop you speaking with other companies, so why does football think differently? Ashley Coal has a very good case. Watch this space for further developments. |

pathetic , they should have handed Chelsea a 5 point deduction for next season. That would have made a point , the difference between being champions or possibly avoiding relegation . Wrexham were this year relegated from League one after having 10 points deducted for breach of league rules. This all could have been avoided of course if the Arsenal board had kept their word on Ashley Cole`s new salary contract , as this is what led to him meeting mourinho if you believe the story that is. As for the future of Ashley Cole he has said he has no problems with the team or manager just the Arsenal board , it will be difficult for them to agree on a new deal if indeed he does appeal against his fine and goes all the way. I am not sure the rules should be changed it would certainly cause chaos, we shall see i suppose. |

I think it was a fair fine, but as Connor said maybe a fine for next season, it would send waves across the glob to clubs.
But when I was listening to Sky Sports news last night it said that Fifa have noit inforced a rule that you cannot speak to opposing clubs about youre future. So this rule is only a Premier League rule, and if Chelsea were to go to Fifa to appeal then really they should not get anything because it is not a Fifa rule. I think Ashley Cole will be sold to Chelsea in the summer and havea switch deal for Wayne Bridge. |
