German international striker Miroslav Klose has reiterated his desire to play abroad, but says he is not ruling out a new contract at Werder Bremen.

Klose was linked with some of Europe's biggest clubs prior to the close of the transfer window, with a raft of Premiership sides monitoring his situation.

The 28-year-old former Kaiserslautern star, who is contracted at the Weser Stadion until June 2008, admitted in an interview with Sport-Bild that he could be tempted to extend his stay at Bremen:

"Werder are not without a chance of keeping me," he said.

Klose did, however, confirm that his long term goal remains to play for one of Europe's big name clubs.

"I've always had to work hard to establish myself and be successful. I don't think that would be any different at a top club such as Real Madrid or Barcelona," he added.

The World Cup Golden Boot winner also put a dampener on speculation that he could be ready to join Bremen's Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich when his current contract expires.

"Bayern is a top club, but I would like to stress that if I move, then I would like to move abroad."

I'm hoping for Serie-A. Uncertain as to which club though.
