I went to see a Man City game with a female friend and I am so glad it was only a friend and not a prospective girlfriend. The poor girl nearly hit me as she was thinking I was patronizing her
by explaining what was happenng on the picth and killing her enjoyment of the game Laughing

seen the thread, but havent commented because havent seen the incident,
however Newell just sounds sexist to me, male refs make mistakes too and i dont see him saying much there,
men ref womens games and get decisions wrong but women are not calling for men to be removed from the womens game

pointless ignorant ar*ehole

That's what I wrote in the thread - maybe we should Wink
Kick the male refs out of the women's game! They can't do their job right! Twisted Evil
How does that sound, Mr Newell?

Rachel Yankey, who plays for Arsenal Ladies and is widely hailed as England's top striker, hit back at Newell's comments.
'There are bad refs and good refs,' she said.
'It doesn't matter if they're male or female. To be a ref in the Championship you are qualified to that level and it shouldn't matter if you're male or female, black or white. I agree the quality of refs needs to be stepped up, but that's across the board.'

QPR defender Marcus Bignot, who used to manage Birmingham City Ladies, also attacked Newell for his remarks. Newell believed his team should have been given a penalty when Carlos Edwards tangled with Bignot, but Bignot insisted Rayner and referee Andy D'Urso had made the right decision.
Bignot said: 'Comments like those will stop female officials from trying to make their way in the game.
'Amy Rayner is a role model. What would he have said if it had been a male referee making that decision?'

Think u explained it all to them on the forum Agent Smith, shame they still don't get it and resort to their derogatory comments about women again Rolling Eyes
I'd comment but it would probably be slated for being sexist towards men!
It was nice to see a few men treating us equal though, an improvement on the past at least Smile

Was listening to the radio earlier today and he apologised to Amy Raynor, can't remember what else he said as I was only half listening, trying to talk on the phone at the same time!

If I was Amy, I wouldn't accept his apology, stupid tw*t! He knew damn well what he was saying Rolling Eyes

Yeah, he said his piece and realised it would create a big fuss so he's been advised to chuck in an apology for good measure.

Stupid tw*t indeed.
