Atletico Madrid winger Maxi Rodriguez could miss the rest of the Primera Liga season after damaging knee ligaments while on international duty with Argentina.
Maxi sustained the injury early during Wednesday's friendly with Spain in Murcia and was replaced in the 16th minute by Daniel Bilos.
A statement on the Atletico Madrid website confirmed: "The Argentinian midfield player Maximiliano Rodriguez 'Maxi' has suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee."
The injury is likely to keep Maxi sidelined for around six months, which makes it doubtful he will be able to help Atletico in their bid to secure
Champions League football this season.
