Chelsea upbeat on Arnesen chances - Your thoughts? |

Chelsea insist they can salvage a deal with Tottenham following the dispute over their approach for Frank Arnesen.
Spurs suspended their Danish sporting director amid claims the Blues made an illegal advance for his services. "There's an ongoing dialogue between the clubs still," said Simon Greenberg, Chelsea's director of communications. "The relationship has not irretrievably broken down, so there are discussions ongoing and we wait to see if they progress or they do not progress." Spurs chairman Daniel Levy wants to maintain the two-tier management system with a new man coming in to work above coach Martin Jol at White Hart Lane. And following Chelsea's approach, Levy faces four options: Seek a compensation package from Chelsea, possibly including the transfer of players Report Chelsea to the Premier League Take action through the Civil Courts Put Arnesen on gardening leave for two years Arnesen has allegedly made it clear to close friends that he is ready to make the switch across London because the deal offered will set him up for life. The 48-year-old is expected to pocket £4.3m over three years as head of scouting and the club's academy, a position not expected to conflict with manager Jose Mourinho. Chelsea have denied breaching FA Premier League regulations after formally requesting permission from Tottenham to approach Arnesen. But Spurs maintain the Premiership champions have broken the rules because their letter regarding Arnesen was copied to the Dane. "By definition, Frank was approached prior to the club having had any chance to refuse permission," said a statement on the club's website. Spurs have yet to make any formal complaint to the Premier League and Chelsea may escape an inquiry if they can reach an acceptable cash compromise. Tottenham are holding out for a reported £5m compensation package in order to release Arnesen from his contract, while Chelsea are prepared to pay just over half of that amount. The north London side have also mooted the idea of taking Scott Parker and Mikael Forssell in settlement, according to reports. The Daily Telegraph claims Tottenham suggested signing £6m midfielder Parker and taking Finnish striker Forssell on loan. |

Is this Chelsea's way of trying to get themselves out of any potential trouble they could be in? Will Spurs really go ahead with a complaint to the FA, if indeed they can have Forssell out of it?
I don't like it at all to be honest, and I dont like what Chelsea are doing to the domestic game. If they are not careful, they will indeed be the most hated club in the World. |

I would like to have Arnesen at Chelsea i think he will help to bring youth in the side... but i think the way were doing it is wrong i think we would have had him anyway if we approched him officially we would of got him... But if you have power you can do what you like its not only Chelsea theres other teams who do it but its all quiet if Chelsea were abit smarter on what they do then they can get away with it.

I think its arrogance to do something like this after what has just happened with the Cole incident is stupid. This is going to the extreme, but you may find that if Chelsea keep upsetting clubs in this way, there may be a revolt. Clubs may all agree not to trade with Chelsea. If that happens, then no matter how much money they have, it will be useless. They just don't need anymore enemies, which is why they are now attempting to build bridges with Spurs.
