Ireland - Boss Kerr still targets top spot |
|
Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr still has his sights set on winning a tough Group Four despite dropping two points at home to Israel.
The Irish take on the Faroe Islands on Wednesday with Kerr insisting he would not settle for a play-off place. "There is still obvious disappointment within the team at Saturday's result," said Kerr. "France and Switzerland have found it difficult in their matches away to the Faroes. We must be motivated." The Republic squad is stationed in a hotel halfway up a mountain that overlooks the world's smallest capital in Torshavn. "So there is an important job to be done to ensure the team is properly focused and that they understand the challenges in this game, which will be different compared to those they face in the leagues they play in. "If you look at the Faroes results closely, there are not many clear-cut victories here now. Results have changed over the years as they have learned how to battle and scrap and bring all sorts of teams down to their level." |

I think Ireland will beat the Faroes without too much difficulty. They are obvioulsy going to be cautious as they would not want to be left red in the face, but I'm sure they will do the job out there.

Im sure we will beat the Faroes without any problem, even without Keane.
Cyprus shouldnt be much of a problem either, then Switzerland and France at home will be tough though but I think we can do it |

They wont lose to the Faroe Islands, and if they do that is it I think. I beleive they can win the group, because France have been a total flop in the major competitions since France 98.
