I've read that North Korea has withdrawn their team from the tournament
due to lack of guarantee for security (the late nuclear bombing issues). Anyone knows more about it? |

Yip they did. Netherlands replacing.
Nigeria was supposed to be in there too, but withdraw, not sure why, so Canada replaced them. (might be that Nigeria will have some wc-qual game(s) soon) |

We all know who I want to win
Canada 3 Italy 2 Couldn't believe how poor Italy were in the first half , they barely threatened McLeod in the Canadian goal. Canada certainly deserved their 2 goal lead both goals by Sinclair. Italy's performance was much better in the second half they did give Canada problems. A mistake by McLeod and one of her defenders lead to Italy scoring. The Canadians third came from Jodi - Ann Robinson who despite having her shirt pulled got the ball past the keeper for a good goal. Italy got their second with a good lob over McLeod. Although Canada didn't really miss the key player's , up against bigger and better teams those player's will be sorely missed. |

Denmark 1 USA 1
Denmark nearly got caught napping early on , bringing a good save from Johansson. Missed chances by the USA came back to haunt them when Denmark took the lead from a cracker of a shot by Camilla Anderson leaving Hope Solo no chance. The USA should of had a penalty when Wambach was clipped and brought down. Hope Solo had nowt to do apart from pick the ball out of the net. The USA wasted most of their chances but credit to Johansson she did keep her team in front with good saves. Kristine Lilly had a poor first half by her standards. SECOND HALF The Danes defending was good at the start of the second half , the USA just looked lethargic , only Solo looked like she was up for it. After a couple of USA substitutions the U.S woke up , a good run an cross by Wambach found Lilly who struck the ball past Johansson for the U.S to level. The game opened up after this for both sides but finished 1-1. The Danes looked more up for it , for me the USA were very poor , it was the worst performance I've seen them play in a good while. I'm not a big fan of Carli LLoyd and my opion hasn't changed , she's no replacement for Shannon Boxx who they're really missing in the midfield. Denmark truely deserved to win this match , a draw flatters the Americans. In the other game Australia beat Netherlands 1-0 |
