Lilly said on her website that she did swear but it wasn't intended at the official's. I think the reason she hasn't been sent off before is she doesn't get involved in the scuffles and argument's that break out.

Here's what Lil wrote on her website - why not quote the whole part about the incident? Wink

Kristine Lilly wrote:
I have been playing soccer my whole life and on the National Team for 19 years and today I received my first red card. Yes a red card. Now you want to know what I did to do to possibly deserve it, well I don’t think I did anything worthy of a red card, but some words may have gotten lost in translation.

I was frustrated because the lineswoman called off sides on us when it was a hand ball on the Holland player. So I said my frustrations to the lineswoman and I may have used a swear word in there…………but it wasn’t anything derogatory to the lineswoman or the referee. However, the lineswoman thought she needed to have a word with the referee and after their chat, she walked up to me and gave me a red card. I was in awe and I was like “what?” even the Holland player said “come on ref.” I tried to ask why but all I got was a flip of the hand that said “off the field.” None the less I walked off the field and walked right into the locker room. There was a bout 10 minutes left in the game and we were winning 2-0 at the time.

So what is the moral of the story you must wonder, well be careful what you say and how you say something. I shouldn’t have reacted with such frustration and normally I don’t think I would have gotten a red card but this can happen and as a captain I have to be a better example. At least this wasn’t in the World Cup or qualifiers.

Tarpley has impressed me , she's growing in confidence with every game , not a bad player to have on the bench and works well for the team. Tasha Kai is looking better with every game , unlucky not to score today.

It was worth getting up at 4.30 for , there was no commentary mind but you got the feel of the atmosphere without anyone talking. Good goal by Lilly , it was made for her really. The U.S deserve to win the game. I think Lilly won the player of the tournament but I'm not sure. Anyway I'm well happy Very Happy
