Well, as far as I know, all the premiership teams get a bye until the 3rd round while the championship teams get a bye until the 2nd round.
and on your other question, all the teams are put into a pot and are drawn out, the first team out plays at home.

hope that helps you out Wink

It's the Premiership and Championship teams that get the byes to the third round.
The 48 Coca Cola Leagues 1 and 2 teams go into the first round draw with the 32 non-league teams who qualify via earlier qualifying rounds.
After the first 2 rounds have been played, this leaves 20 teams to go into the third round draw along with the 44 teams from the top two divisions.

When the draw is made for the semi-final, the FA decides where the games are to be played, as they are played on neutral grounds (usually Villa Park and Old Trafford).
The final should be played at Wembley, although the last few have been played at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, until the new Wembley Stadium is ready.

well there are first the Preliminary rounds to qualify for the FA Cup in August ...which involves any non league team . I presume the draw for these matches are also chosen randomly , after the qualifying rounds are finished the teams left are then included in the draw for the first round proper of the FA Cup where the lower league clubs start their bid for glory . Then as the previous posts have said the second and third rounds start with the Championship and Premiership teams getting involved .
