Come on the Toon, a great discliplined performance, outstanding goalkeeper in Tim Krul, solid back four, and hard working midfield. Playing 4 centre halves along the back worked wonders, we dominated in the air, peter ramage was excellent again!
Its a huge pity that we cant perform in the premier league like that, a miserly defence in europe, seems to let us down on occasions in prem. The pundits were saying that although we were great tonight, Palermo had a weak side out, but didnt we? who were we missing?
Shay Given-irish international
Steve Harper-
Steve Carr-Irish international
Celestine Babayaro-nigerian international
Damien Duff-Irish international
Scott Parker-English international
Kieron Dyer-English international
Oba Martins-Nigerian international
Michael Owen-Nigerian International
Giuseppe Rossi-Ineligible
Shola Ameobi-
thats an entire team missing there through injury! worst luck in europe.

i voted owen.

dyer-we have loads of midfielders, so we have back up.
given- he is a huge miss, but we have harper who is a good keeper, and from what i saw tonight, krul is gona be wiked!

and yeh we have far too many injuries, but we managed tonight didnt we? we did it tonight against one of the best teams in italy, so why cant we do it in the prem?

Ive went for Owen he just guareentees goals and his pace frightens the life out of defenders. I was a tad [beep!] of listening to five keep going on about Palermos 2nd string when we had 11 or 12 players missing to. I hope Tim Krul plays ahead of Harps on Saturday I am so excited about his prospects obviously Shay is still number 1.

Palermorested about 8 players of there usuall starting line up but my point is we had numerous players out from our original stating 11 who could easily have played and all you heard was the Palermo side weakened not both sides weekened.

Given
Harper
Carr
Babayaro
Bernard
Owen
Sibierski (came on as sub)
Parker
Duff
Martins
Ameobi
Dyer

This is a lot of quality missing and thankfully it didn''t matter one thing for sure is a new star is born. Tim Krul a legend in the making.

it has to be owen. given is top class player and we miss him but we are not scoring goals in the league and we need that the most.

Alan was sayin tonight on motd. dont sack roeder, that wont help.

stick it out until jan, and buy a striker that will score goals. shola is now having probs, owens out, martins seems to pick up injuries easily. we have to rely on rossi, and we cant as he goes in jan, and cant do it alone until then.

Rossi isn't even one of our players. Why play him to please alex ferguson. The cheek of that man to demand rossi being played is unbelieverable. he was rubbish.

Rossi is ok, but when Newcastle play the long ball game we have no chance. I didnt no Owen was a Nigerean international, lol.
