Great win for the lads after a difficult week, I’m so pleased for Parker, Harper and Roeder especially but most of all the FANS who turned out in their numbers again and gave the team tremendous backing as ever.
It wasn’t a classic game (Watford ARE the new Wimbledon) but we deserved to go through as we could have won it comfortably in the first half especially. Watford troubled us in the air and roughed us up a bit but we came through.
I was dreading pens, I couldn’t watch I had to turn away, but we WON and I was there to see us finally end the shootout jinx.
Sibierski was magnificent, he ran himself into the ground and did brilliantly in defensive situations with his heading ability. Parker and Emre were immense too and Duff for a while looked like his old self. Milner didn’t have the best of games and neither did Taylor in my view but overall we played well enough when it mattered as a team.
Depressingly this reminds me of Souness’ team, good in the cups but gash in the league and I just hope we don’t do a boro where we get to a final, but only to go down.
We now need to beat City because its
Arsenal next after that and we’re just the team to play when you’re in need of a win and a performance at your new stadium.
