Perez to test Arsenals resolve |
|
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez intends to test Arsenal's resolve for star striker Thierry Henry over the summer.
Perez tried FOUR TIMES to prise Henry away from the Gunners last summer, but everytime he made an approach he was made aware of the Frenchman's £50 million price-tag. But Henry is now considering his future at Highbury and has spoken regularly with good pals Roberto Carlos and Zinedine Zidane about playing for Madrid. Barcelona president Joan Laporta was in pole position to land Henry, but cannot afford Arsenal's asking price and also losing vice-president Sandro Rosell cannot be underestimated. Rosell had a good relationship with Henry thanks to their days together at Nike. Real supremo Perez knows Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen on Michael Owen and at £16 million could significantly lower the cash component the Spanish club would have to commit to for Henry. The Gunners have already tentatively discussed a £12 million bid for Owen with Real chiefs. Insiders at Real know it will be difficult to prise Henry away from Highbury this summer, but one told AS: "It is very difficult to remove Henry from Arsenal, but if he leaves it will be only to play for Real Madrid." Do you think he would leave? |

That would be awsome, Henry at Real, it would show they still have that touch. And I think that could be the league winning signing.
