Scottish First Division side Airdrie United have unveiled Kenny Black as their new manager.
The Lanarkshire club have been searching for a replacement for Sandy Stewart, who was sacked on 13 November due to "a need for change". Black enjoyed a long playing career with Airdrie United and Airdrieonians, as well as spending spells at Hearts and Raith Rovers. He was Stewart's assistant before becoming a coach at Leicester in 2004. Ballantyne delighted with Black appointment. The 40-year-old Black is set to take charge at the club following Saturday's home match with St Johnstone and he is looking forward to the task. I am confident that I can turn their fortunes around. New Airdrie United manager Kenny Black "I was quite surprised to get the phone call from Jim Ballantyne asking me if I would like to be on the shortlist," he told BBC Scotland's Sportsound. "The team can only improve and I am confident that I can turn their fortunes around. "I spoke to Sandy every Friday and it seems they have not been carrying a lot of luck. "They beat Gretna 2-0 at Gretna, which shows what they are capable of. "I had to give it careful consideration because I was based in England and I am also an ex-team-mate of Sandy's and he's a very good friend." Airdrie chairman Ballantyne believes that Black is the correct appointment. |
