Atletico Madrid have approached Boca Juniors for exciting youngster Fernando Gago.

The 19 year-old midfielder is wanted by new Atletico coach Carlos Bianchi and sports director Toni Munoz has already made a formal approach to Boca for the youngster.

Boca have informed Munoz that Gago is not for sale, but left the door open to a first refusal option with a view to selling Gago before the start of the 2006/07 season.

The midfielder possesses dazzling skill and Diego Maradona has made a personal plea to Argentina coach Jose Peckerman to cap the youngster as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Boca defender Rolando Schiavi is also being linked with Atletico Madrid in the Buenos Aries press.

Gago is such a good player. He is awsome. His movement off te bacll is out of this world, and his movement on the ball is also just as good. If any clubs are going to be ambtious they would go for this kid, he would mkae Cristiano Ronaldo look crap.
