AZ Alkmaar technical director Martin van Geel has played down mounting speculation that he is being lined up to succeed Frank Arnesen at Spurs.
Van Geel has a growing reputation, but insists he expects to work with new Alkmaar coach Louis van Gaal. He said: "I have heard rumours about me and Spurs and when your name is linked to such a club it is flattering. "But I am not thinking about any job there because the question has not been asked. I have not heard anything." Van Geel added: "I know that Tottenham have a rich history and I also know Martin Jol very well as a famous player and then as a coach, although I have never worked with him." But he also eager to link up with Van Gaal, saying: "Van Gaal and I are a good couple and I am looking forward to working with him. He is an excellent coach and our propects are looking good." |
