Chelsea Football Club will tomorrow unveil a radical new website.
www.Chelseafc.com will set new standards for future football websites in terms of design, innovation and embracing social trends in the digital age. The site has been developed with Premium TV to give Chelsea FC fans a unique interactive online experience. Chelsea Chief Executive Peter Kenyon said: “Chelsea’s vision is to be internationally recognised as the world’s number one football club by 2014 and this new site is a vital part of making that happen. “The site will also represent the Chelsea brand in great fashion, it is stylish, innovative and in our build partner PTV we have aligned ourselves again with a market leader in the relevant sector.” The site will feature state of the art design, functionality and features. A first for the football industry, visitors can view the entire contents of the site on one page and choose to zoom in and zoom out on pages of their choice. The site is also built entirely in Flash technology. And, if you want to hear the management and players introduce themselves in person, you can — the site features video messages from each member of the squad and even Chelsea’s manager and first team coach, Jose Mourinho. It will also cater fully for social networking, user-generated content and blogging via the Your Chelsea satellite site as well as increased editorial output including weekly columnists such as the award winning writer Giles Smith and former player Pat Nevin. The site is fully broadband and mobile enabled, has been developed with Web 2.0 firmly in mind and in consultation with Chelsea fans, via focus groups, as well as other main stakeholders. Chelsea has other exciting web plans in the pipeline with far advanced discussions regarding Chinese and Korean language sites, as well as projects in the United States and Japan. The site meets DDA requirements by featuring a text-only version, and for those without Flash technology. |
