Why oh why do we continue to persist with this long ball football from Robbo.

It is plain as day for anyone to see that it doesnt work one bit, we look a million times more better when we play it out of defence thru midfield. Today everytime Robbo got the ball he booted it as far as he could down field, woohoo, Arsenal just waited for the knockdown and kept the pressure on.

Its been happening ALL season and its really starting to get to me. You could see Dawson dropping back in the second half once Robbo got the ball so he could roll it t him but Robbo just waves him away and hoofs it up the field.

Its just so frustrating to see it not work at all every single time yet Robbo still does it every time. We have pace out wide with Lennon, Chimmy etc, why not throw it to them and let us push out while we have the advantage?

It use 2 work last season when we had Mido up there.
The whole team was poor, every time we got the ball we lost it, we never used the wings and r defence were all over the field. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Exclamation Exclamation

I agree BJ mate, roll it out. It's just so much more simple.

There's more too it and there's no finite answer to the do's and don'ts.

It's not always the answer but long ball isn't as cut and dried as it seems. For example when the opposing team gets the momentum in your half and all your players are playing too deep, kick it to their top left or right flank so the ball goes out of play well in their half. It give's your team a chance to switch direction in an instant.

It's not really recommended when the other team is one of the top four though. Rolling Eyes

Good point mate. I just dont think it suits Berbatovs style so much, if Mido is playing it can be a winning tactic but Berbie needs a different approach in my opinion.

Agreed. Mido is much more suited to it.
